The new federal auto warranty regulations from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) are a massive change for auto makers.
As of February 19, 2019, manufacturers will have to pay out $1.4 billion in claims for their cars to companies that are not certified by FMCSA.
The new rules are expected to lead to significant price hikes and potentially higher car insurance premiums for consumers.
Here are some tips for keeping costs down when buying a used car.
Choose a brand that has good warranty coverage.
Many brands that were once known for making cars that didn’t last long are now starting to embrace auto warranties.
You can see a list of some of the brands that have embraced auto warranties here.
Some of the auto warranties that will be covered by these auto makers include: GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mitsuya, Subaru, and Volkswagen.
Check your auto warranty coverage for warranty eligibility.
FMCSAs Auto warranty eligibility varies by manufacturer.
For example, if you are buying a car from a manufacturer that does not have a full-time warranty, it may be more difficult to qualify for the full-year warranty.
For that reason, you may want to check your manufacturer’s coverage eligibility.
If you can’t get your car covered by the manufacturer, the best option is to shop around and see if you can get a warranty that is more than a year old.
Some auto warranties will expire after a certain amount of time and you may be out of luck if your warranty expires.
This is especially true if you’re buying a new car that’s in need of a replacement.
Ask questions before buying a brand new car.
If a brand-new car is not covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, you should ask questions before purchasing the car.
It’s not the manufacturer’s fault if your car is damaged.
If your car’s warranty expires after a few years, you might want to shop with your auto insurance company and find a brand with more warranty coverage, or at least a longer warranty.
Don’t get a brand replacement.
You may be surprised to find out that some car companies offer brand replacement programs.
However, these programs usually only cover one brand of car and are usually not covered under your auto policy.
So if you decide to buy a brand from a company that offers brand replacement, be sure to make sure that you’re getting the brand you expect.
Keep in mind that some auto companies offer discounts to shoppers who purchase used cars.
These discounts are not included in the advertised price of the car, and you should not expect to receive the advertised savings if you shop around for the best deal.
If it comes to it, buying a vehicle from a brand or brand of auto is probably the best way to save money.
